Who looks stronger for 2010, Yankees or Red Sox ?

Firstly who do you think has the strongest pitching rotation ?

Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Dice K, Wakefield/Bucholtz!

or

Sabathia, Burnett, Petitte, Vasquez, Hughes/Chamberlain!

As for hitting i dont really understand what the Yankees are doing they had a championship winning side and theyve made it weaker somehow ? Who the hell is Nick Johnson, ive only been following Baseball a couple years and im from UK so like ive never heard of this guy and it also looks like hes never done anything in his career, why did they get rid of Matsui for this guy ?

The Red Sox have made all moves but who has the better offence ?

The Yankees are a far better team and will prove it by winning another world series in 2010.

This is tough, but the Yanks i think have the edge this season. They have a strong start (Sabathia) and end (Chamberlin) to their pitching rotation. Their defense is top notch. The Red Sox have and Ok rotation. They have starters who are getting older. That is just what i think though.

The pitching is going to be intresting. Beckett and Lester are two great pitchers but the rest of the rotation has a giant question mark. Lackey has not had good numbers against the A.L. East and he is a bit injury prone. Dice K was far from the pitcher he was in 2008 in 09. Wakefield's age could start to be an issue if he starts and Bucholtz hasn't had great career numbers. He has a losing record and an ERA over 4. The Yankees have less questions then the Red Sox. Sabathia is looking great for the Yankees and might reach 20 wins in 2010. Burnett had a hard time towards the late part of 09, but I think he still looks good for 13-15 wins in 2010. Pettitte is going to be good for 15 wins. Vasquez looks good for 10-15 wins too which is what the Yankees need him to do as the fourth starter. The fifth spot could changed a few times during the season betweeen Chamberlain,Hughes,Mitre, and Gaudin, but I think Giradi will work it out so they can get 10-15 wins from that spot too. So, the Yankees might have a slight edge in pitching.

Yankees have the clear advantage offensive wise. Just look at the numbers of the players from both line ups. Nick Johnson had one of the highest on base percentages in the league last year. Matsui had to go because he's getting older and he can't play the field because of his knee.

The New York Yankees are looking better then the Boston Red Sox for 2010.

Rotation:
Red Sox Better 1-5, but on an idividual basees they are not THAT much better. Lester/Beckett matches up with CC/Burnett, Lackey is better then Pettite, but Vasquez/Joba is better than Dicek/Bucholtz

Defense:
Red are better overall, but again on a head to head, it really isnt drastically that different.

Bullpen:
The Yankees have the advantage here, Mo, Hughes, Marte, Robertson is a very good back end, but again on a head to head they are not that different

Offense:
This it he big difference, the Yankees offense is far better than the Red Sox at this point. Whehter you look individual or a whole, the Yankees offense is just unfair, the Yankees offense has made some major upgrades, Nick Johnson is a far superior on baseguy than Matsui (when healthy), Curtis Granderson estentially over Damon or Melky is a HUGE upgrade, now if the Yankees can find a way to get Damon back or sign someone like Ankiel or Reed Johnson there offseason will be comeplete.

The Red Sox have shored up there pitching & defense but the offense was the problem. The offense actually got severly weakend, Cameron is not Bay, Beltre cant do what Lowe can do even if he was injured, Scutaro is comming off a carer year, most guys do not repeat carrer years very often, all the good defense in the world isnt gong to matter when your middle relief gave up a 3 run homr run & your offense could only put up 2 runs. You would still loose 3-2.

The redsox needed to make up around 10 game from last year, with what they have I would expect them to loose about 3 games instead of make up 10. They look like a prime candidate for the wild card again though!

To start the season, the Yankees are 3/1 favorites to win the World Series. Redsox are 11/3.

Therefore: Yankees > Redsox

It Will Be All Yankees In 2010.

Yankees' is slightly better. I really don't like Dice-K and his disappointing season was an indication like every Japs pitchers in the past. His stuff is simply not there and he basically has no control last season.

If Dice-K can pitch like everyone thinks he should, RedSox is stronger but I highly doubt it. That is why I pick the Yankees because everyone knows Vazquez will give you 200 innings no matter what.

CC Sabathia, #52 of the New York Yankees.

I don't love it. The Red Sox need Ellsbury, as you said a rising star. Sure we need a big bat, but there are other ways. It is also true we have Cameron, but he has only a few years left. Ellsbury is what? 26?27? If we can keep him for awhile, the sox are set. He is fast, can get good contact hits [triples], a great defender, and just keeps getting better. It would be nice to have Bay also but he is much more pricey than Ellsbury will be for awhile. I mean, this is possible and everything, but the outcome may not be great depending on what team your rooting for... i see what you mean, the sox need a big bat but this trade isn't the solution

Red Sox have a good rotation, but it really isn't that much better than the Yankees. They are pretty even, but if I had to give an edge to someone I'd give it to the Sox. Yankees have a much stronger offense. Overall, Yankees are a bit stronger because of the great rotation and offense.
