x^2 - 8x - 6 = 0a + B = 8
aB = - 6
(a - B)^2
= a^2 - 2aB + B^2
= a^2 + 2aB + b^2 - 4aB
= (a + B)^2 - 4aB
= 8^2 - 4(-6)
= 64 + 24
= 88
