為什麼要加 ( BLOCK ), a large stone 已經是一塊大石...

block. 怎解才暢順??
A block is a piece with a regular shape, for example concrete block 石屎磚，wooden block積木. A large block of stone 是一塊大石，不是大石頭(big rock)，因為塊表示了比較有規則的形狀。
He tied the rope to a large block of stone.正確暢順譯法是：

他將繩索縛到一塊大石上。

( 他用繩捆著大石頭 不確， 因英文意思是 He used a rope to tie the big rock.)

(2) Three tall men came out of the shed.
三個大男人流淚. 三個高男人流血, 三個又高又大的男人離開廠房. ( 三句邊句解得正確 )
Shed is a small simple house for storage小貯物屋
所以三個大男人流淚. 三個高男人流血都錯，而三個又高又大的男人離開廠房也要改正為：

三名高的男子從小貯物屋走出來。

她躺著指住三張卡....她指著三張躺卧的卡..邊句才正確.

她躺著指住三張卡....意思錯了。她指著三張躺卧的卡..要改正為：

回應問者：a block of stone 是習慣的用法，就像你認為可作 a stone 一樣！但沒有英人會寫 a large stone 的。
A block 是很好的「量詞」。尤其與 large 同用，更是天衣無縫的呢！
