Gift for my recommenders?

I asked two of my former bosses to write my recommendations for the business schools that I'm applying. I want to buy a gift for them because without the recommendations, I would not be able to submit the applications. However, I'm not sure what to get? Can you please give me some ideas? Both are gentlemen. I thought about getting them a glass of wine, but I don't think they both drink.

The best gift I feel would be a good quality pen.. every elderly person would love that!I would not prefer to give books, CDs or liquor because they depend on personal choices and may not be liked.
Else, you may also give some unusual gifts.. like say, an hour glass or a magnifying glass or a crystal showpiece.. Something that will make them remember you (since the gifts are unique)
Lastly, attach a "Thank you" Card with your gift.
