I think to be a customer assistant in the Correction Department would be my ideal summer job. I want to take a major in Criminal Justice and become a Correction Officer in the future. Thus it can pave the way for my future career. To deal with probationers (those people who have committed a crime, but did not go to prison. Instead they have been given a chance to correct their mistakes.) would be a challenge for me as most of them would be narcotics offenders or sex offenders. I might be able to obtain valuable customer service skills when dealing with these difficult people. My duties will include data entry in legal processing, refer the probationers to the appropriate department, answering phone calls, deal with inquiries of the public and the probationers, prepare monthly budget spreadsheets for the Department Supervisor, and prepare Powerpoint slides for the presentation of the probation officers. Not only this job can brush up my customer service skills, it will also enhance my Microsoft Office skills as well.
