Question is misleading as it would appear as if you have x as a variable and x as a multiplier.

Is it meant to be :-

4x - 7 ( x - 5 )

4x - 7x + 35

35 - 3x

PS
Take care with presentation.

Step 1: Receive problem
4x-7x(x-5)

Step 2: Use the distributive property to simplify -7x(x-5)
-7x^2+35x. Since negative seven x times x is negative seven x squared and negative 7x times negative 5 is positive 35x.

Step 3: Write out the simplification we did above, and add it to 4x
-7x^2+35x+4x

Step 4: Simplify 35+4x
-7x^2+39x

It's not clear what you are attempting to do. However, the solution will probably require expanding the products above.

To expand the product, multiply each of the terms in the parentheses by (-7x).

(-7x)(x) = -7x^2
(-7x)(-5) = 35x

So you have
4x + -7x^2 + 35x

Rearrange and combine terms to get:
-7x^2 + 39x

You haven't provided any other information about what you want to do after this.

Simplify.
4x - 7x(x - 5)
= 4x - 7x(x) - 7x(-5)
= 4x - 7x^2 + 35x
= -7x^2 + 4x + 35x
= -7x^2 + 39x
