4X^2-9=0 or X^2-1=0
X^2=9/4 or X^2=1
X=3/2 or -3/2 or 1 or -1
x^6-7x^3-8=0
(x^3-8)(X^3+1)=0
x^3=8 or x^3=-1
x=2 or x=-1 (where x is real)
