How to use ”Word”?

Please tell me how to use Word Document to type a box or a box with a tick
inside. Urgent please!! For assignment. Thanks.

From pull-down menu, choose "Insert" --> "Symbol" --> In the "Font" field, choose "Wingdings 2", then you can choose the symbol "box" or "box with a tick", or any symbols you need.
