BNO護照過期了,還能從美國回香港嗎?

you must renew your BNO or any passport you can have before any continual travel

in term of international travel, a passort is invalid for return travel if that passport is within 6 month of expiratory. Technically you willnot be able to even get airline ticket if you do not have a valid passport.

Do bear in mind,a visa only allow a person to enter specific country, it does not grant travel right to the visa holder, passport grant travel right to passport holder, international custome recgonise a paassport, not the visa to allow the transit, departure and arrival of a passenger.

到中國駐美國領事館申請特區護照,因為所有具中國血統的英國國民（海外）(即是BNO)皆會自動被視為中華人民共和國公民

當然可以，因你出境時，你的bno及身証都是有效的旅遊証件，入境時是不會有任何問題的，但當你再出境時，你的証件必須更新，否則，你只能使用第三國護照出境。

HK ID will not be a problem. Simply when passing through immigration (Hong Kong), simple tell the officer that you leave Hong Kong before you can get a smart ID (and even adult ID). He or she will simply let you go (or ask some more questions). No passport is needed.

For returning to the United States, a passport (It can be a BN(O), HKSAR, or others - if you have any) with your Permanent Resident Card (I-551 or Green Card) will be good for any trip last less than 6 months.

Your B1/B2 travel visa is technically revoked due to your ineligibility (as it is a non-immigrant visa and you are an immigrant).

Let me make it simple for you. Call Hong Kong Immigration Department and confirm for entrying Hong Kong, and CBP for entrying United States.
