A pencil is $2 cheaper than a pen. Fanny buys 4 pencils and 3 pens. If she pays $27 for the pencils and pens, find the price of a pen.

Let the price of the pen be $x.3x + 4(x - 2) = 27
3x + 4x - 8 = 27
7x = 27 + 8 = 35
