a high score 跟 a higher score 文法上都講得通, 但意思上應有分別.
你話你成績唔係噤好 e.g. 50分 ("緊緊合格") , 而取得 a higher score 就可以係指"較你原本的分數高D" e.g. 60分, 高少少都可以係"高D", 因此 a higher score未必一定係指"好成績", 但取得 a high score 就係"高分數", e.g. 80- 100 分.

'before'- at a certain time before then
"Ago" always counts back from the present time Note that if we are counting back FROM A PAST TIME (由一個過去的時間點倒數), before or earlier or previously are used, not ago:

e.g. 1
Last year I went back to my hometown that I had left TEN YEARS BEFORE and discovered that the house I grew up in was no longer standing. (= left home 11 years ago)

e.g. 2
Last year I returned to my hometown that I had left TEN YEARS AGO and discovered that the house I grew up in had been demolished (= left home 10 years ago)
