Doesn't the Bible show us that Jesus is not God?

2009-12-05 1:16 am
James 1:13 (New King James Version)

13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.

This verse clearly states that God cannot be tempted by evil.

Hebrews 4:15 (New King James Version)

15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

This verse states that Jesus (pbuh) was tempted as we are. So if Jesus (pbuh) was tempted as we are, and God cannot be tempted by evil, doesn't that lead to the logical conclusion that Jesus (pbuh) is not God?

It is pretty plain (ignoring the Creeds) that Jesus is the Son of God, not both.

no, it does not. I see your point, if you are saying that God cannot be tempted but Jesus can.
Jesus came to earth in the form of a human so that he could relate to us and sympathize with us. When Jesus is in Heaven, seated at the right hand of God, he cannot be tempted. He defeated death and is victorious in Heaven. But while he was here, he could be tempted so that no one could say he was never given an opportunity to sin. He was perfect and blameless although he was tempted by Satan in the wilderness.

The Devil attempted to temp Jesus, but being God He could not be tempted.

Now see these words of Jesus Himself:

Jhn 10:30 I and [my] Father are one.

Confusing isn't it?

Study will cure it!

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

BTW, God did not tempt Jesus - sin did.

At it again I see. What is it that you are seeking to do? You will never prove Jesus was just a Prophet as you think of him in Islam.

Jesus professed he is the son of God. He stated too many times to count that he and the Father are the same person.

Jesus was both Man and God so as a man he is subject to all human qualities and frailties. He went to the bathroom too, he ate, slept, burped, etc. But he also healed and walked without sin.

John 5:8 For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

I will pray for you

Jesus and god are the same person. He is also the holy spirit. In the bible they say he comes in three forms, and as i said before its Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

Numbers 14:22: OLD TESTAMENT

Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
Yet, this temptation in no way negates the divinity of God Himself.

In the Old Testament, God was being tempted, that is, being put the test in the wilderness even as Jesus was being tempted (put the test) in the wilderness in the New Testament. This temptation can occur without God sinning. Furthermore, this temptation, this testing is not a challenge to the deity of Christ any more than it was a challenge the the divinity of God in the Old Testament.

In addition, all that Jesus did, He did by looking to the Father. Jesus said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner," (John 5:19). Also, Jesus said, "I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me" (John 5:30).

In the New Testament, when Jesus is tempted, in Matt. 4, the word for tempt is "peirazo." Again, according to the Enhanced Strong's Lexicon, it means "to try whether a thing can be done, 2) to try, make trial of, test: for the purpose of ascertaining his quantity, or what he thinks, or how he will behave himself; 2c) to try or test one’s faith, virtue, character, by enticement to sin."

Therefore, I conclude that Jesus could not have sinned, but that He could be tempted; that is, He could have a sinful option presented to Him -- as was presented to God in the wilderness -- yet Jesus would not have sinned.

That is where you have to understand the Trinity. God in his most powerful state can not be tempted because he is all knowing and all powerful. Dont you understand that when God came down as the son he humbled him self to a weak human state. Jesus said I am in the Father and the Father is in me. We are one. Who ever sees me sees the Father. So they are the same. That is the mystery of the trinity. It is a very deep thing. But Jesus is God and the bible completely shows us that

God is a kingdom. That is why it is called the kingdom of God.

At the present time it consists of the Father (the Most High) and the Son (the Messiah).

As the parables reveal, others will be added.
