reactions of alkanes!!!

1. alkanes (e.g. hexane) + sulphuric acid (H2SO4) 有冇reaction?
2. alkanes (e.g. hexane) + alkali (e.g. potassium hydroxide) 有冇reaction?

如果有, 麻煩比條equation, observation 同 explanation 我,
唔該=]
更新1:

why alkanes do not react with sulphuric acid/ alkali? 因為佢地冇double bonds?

✔ 最佳答案
Alkanes do NOT react with either sulphuric acid or strong alkalis (i.e. potassium hydroxide).

The reason for no reaction is that alkanes contain only C-C and C-H single bonds, which are much more stable than C=C double bonds.

1. alkanes (e.g. hexane) + sulphuric acid (H2SO4) 有冇reaction?
Alkanes are *chemically inert* because it is a *saturated hydrocarbon*(C-C single bond), thus, it cannot react with sulphuric acid.

Alkanes are *chemically inert* because it is a *saturated hydrocarbon*(C-C single bond), thus, it cannot react with alkali.
