邱達昌早年於大馬成立的Malaysia Land Holdings（馬來西亞置地），也已躋身大馬四大發展商之一。據悉，大馬每售出一百個住宅單位，就有二十七個是Malaysia Land Holdings，為此，他一度被喻為「大馬李嘉誠」。
八十年代，當時在遠東發展工作的邱達昌，在做生意及管理方面與父親意見相左。其實兩父子都是性情中人，都是「直腸直肚」，因對事物的看法不同，邱達昌暫時放下香港業務，帶著數千萬元到大馬闖天下。沒想到，短短十年時間，他不僅在大馬站穩陣腳，而且成為四大地產商之一。
遠東資產超百億
大馬投資成功後，邱達昌於97年回到香港，接掌遠東發展，與老父並肩作戰。當時他大刀闊斧進行改革，轉型拓展地產及酒店的業務，並誓言要令集團資產淨值升至一百億港元。三年前，集團的資產淨值只有五十億元，沒想到，不夠三年，他的宏願已經實現！邱達昌對記者說：「我們在香港由一間酒店房都冇，發展到現在有6000間酒店房，佔香港酒店房的十分之一，執香港三四星酒店的牛耳，我對這個成果真的好滿意。
