grammar question(10)

For a storm system to BE (1) called a hurricane ,sustained wind speeds must reach or exceed (2) 74miles per hour.

1 應是 to BE called 才符合文法。

2 ....sustained wind speeds must reach or exceed 74miles per hour.
持續風速須達到或超越每小時 74 英哩。

Exceed 與 Reach 同是 Verbs，reach or exceed (達到或超越) 有一致及一氣呵成的效果。

Over 則是 Preposition。在上句中若要用 over 取代 exceed，便須寫成：
....sustained wind speeds must reach or is over 74miles per hour. /
....sustained wind speeds must reach 74miles per hour, or over.

那便會失卻了一致及一氣呵成的效果。

2 通常called係略咗個is/am/are/was/were/be,喺呢度,原本應該係"to be called"
例: My name called xx
My name (is) called xx個意思係一樣嘅.
唔止呢個字,你睇報紙都有咁寫,係正式嘅,who/where/that嗰類字都可以省略嘅
例: this song (is) titled ...
