Can I use my new credit card when my old one hasn't officially expired yet?

I have a credit card expires this month, and i received a new one(haven't activated yet). They have the same barcodes. Today I deposit some money to my credit card a/c in the postoffice. But i gave the officer the NEW CARD to scan barcode and deposit. But soon after that I realized that I haven't activated my new card yet, which means my old one is still valid. But the transaction was made,& the officer gave me the receipt for the deposit.

I immediately called my bank(HSBC) to ask if it matters that I gave postoffice the new card hasn't activated. they told me that it's fine and they are the same. then activated the card for me. But i'm still concerning abt this. worrying the money will not make through, plus is urgent.

Anyone knows anything about this?

Only the expiration date and the CVV change (3 digit security code at the back), so not to worry, the deposit you made will post. You can use either of the cards, but i would suggest you start using the new card since its been activated already.. cut up the old one to avoid misuse, however ensure you use only one of the cards, if you use both your account may be temp blocked fearing fraud!

Your account is good. Don't sweat the small stuff.
