1a)the buses run more often than the trains .
1b)the buses run more often than the trains run.

2a)i am taller than you.
2b)i am taller than you are.

The meaning is the same, but the first sentence,(a) would be better . The second one(b), is clumsy.

3a)we were busier today than usually.
3b)we were busier at work today than usually.
3c)we were busier than usually.

Almost the same. But the first on emphasis on today, not any day like this. And the second one emphasis on the work, that means just more busier at work, but not for other things.

the buses run more often than the trains . OK
the buses run more often than the trains run.

i am taller than you. OK.
i am taller than you are. OK.

we were busier today than usually. 不對
we were busier at work today than usually. 不對
we were busier than usually.
we were busier than usual today.

we were busier than usual at work today.

we were busier than usual.

thank you OK. 多謝
thank you very much OK.

could you speak a bit more slowly? 不對
could you speak a bit slowly? 不對
could you speak more slowly? 不對
- You speak slowly.
could you speak a bit slower?

could you speak a little bit slower?

could you speak slower?

it's expensive. OK.
it's much expensive. 不對 much 不是用來比較, 應是it's more expensive.
it's much more expensive. OK.

Hope this helps...

the buses run more often than the trains do.

i am taller than you are.

we were busier today than usually.錯
we were busier at work today than usually.錯
we were busier than usually.錯
Today , we were busier than we are usually.

thank you 對
thank you very much 'very much'加強語氣

could you speak a bit more slowly? 'a bit'少許
could you speak a bit slowly? 錯
could you speak more slowly?

it's much expensive. 錯
it's much more evpensive.
it's expensive.
