I'm working on something, and I need to define what high-quality teacher is. In your opinion, what do you think a high-quality teacher should have or do?

A high-quality teacher is one who creates a learning environment where everyone feels comfortable, respected, and valuable. A high-quality teacher knows that everyone has the ability to learn, but is aware that everyone learns differently. This teacher will plan lessons which will meet individual needs by focusing on varying learning styles. Being a high-quality teacher does not mean he/she has all the answers. Learning is an on-going process, even for teachers. Teachers should be able to recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and work with their students to create individual paths of success.

The high quality teacher...

1. Respects the individual student and will be aware of, and sensitive to, each unique set of experiences and ideas brought to the class.

2. Understands that while subject matter is important, it is just as important to impart a love of learning itself.

3. Takes pride in self-improvement and constantly sets an example of integrity.

4. Has a good rapport with students, not as a friend, but as a trusted mentor and role model who has the interests of each student at heart at all times.
