Will Dustin Pedroia remain a Red Sox forever?

It usually doesn't happen much anymore for a ballplayer to play their entire career on one ball team anymore but will it happen for Pedroia? Pujols most likely will as will Jeter, Rivera, and Varitek. Will Pedroia make it?

If he continues to produce I don't see why the Red Sox would trade him. If for some reason the Sox decided to get rid of him I'm sure he would have no problem being signed with a number of teams.

You never know but I can't picture him going anywhere any time soon. I also think he will be a Derek Jeter type and stay with one team for his whole career. The Red Sox would be crazy to get ride of him.

If anyone will, it will probably be him. Him, or Lester. And by the way, Veritek wasn't a Red Sox forever. He was acquired in a trade. The Red sox traded a closer for Veritek and Lowe (the trade was when they were really young. They were on the Mariners.)

If he continues to put up good numbers for the Red Sox then he will definitely stay, but if after his MVP season he goes on a downward spiral, which has happened so many times before, he will have to be let go.

Yes, Pedroia will be staying with the Red Sox in 2010. But he has 6 year contract of the team.

Yes I see him being a Red Sox for his whole career.

Varitek was not a Red Sox forever - he was drafted by the Mariners. In the worst trade in Mariners history they gave Varitek and Derek Lowe to the Red Sox for Heathcliff Slocumb.

As for Pedroia, it's always possible but I think it's doubtful he'll stay with the Red Sox forever. He's a little guy with a huge swing - if he loses even a little bit of bat speed, his numbers will likely fall dramtically. A sabrmetrician like Theo Epstein will be very aware of those dangers and may well move Pedroia before this contract is up and his slowdown begins. In the immortal words of Branch Rickey - it's better to trade a player a year too soon than a year too late.

He has a 6 year contract. When he becomes a free agent when his 6 years are up they'd have to resign him again.

It's possible. they have him signed for a while and the Sox are one of the tams with the money to do that if they really want to and they already have him signed for his 1st couple of free agent years. I hope so. I'd hate to think of him or Youklis on another team.
