Solve these Simultaneous equations? 2questions! - AS maths?

1.) y+1=x
y=x^2-6x+5

2.) y+x^2=8x
y=2x

show working out please :)

1) y + 1 = x ---> y = x - 1
y = x^2 - 6x + 5
x - 1 = x^2 - 6x + 5 (Put them together)
0 = x^2 - 6x -x + 5+ 1
0 = x^2 - 7x + 6
0 = (x - 1) ( x - 6)

0 = x - 1 ---> x = 1 ----> y = x-1 = 1-1 = 0 ---> (1,0)
0 = x - 6 ---> x = 6 ---> y= 6-1 = 5 ---> (6,5)


2) Use the same method

y + x^2 = 8x....(1)
y = 2 x............(2)
Put the second equation to the first

2 x + x^2 = 8x
2x - 8x + x^2 = 0
x^2 - 6x = 0
x ( x -6 ) = 0
x = 0----------------------> y = 2 x = 2 x0 = 0 ---> (0,0)
x-6 =0 ----> x = 6 ---> y = 2x6 = 12 ----> (6,12)

I cant do it on the pc, but its not hard.
for 1) y=x-1 and substitue to find x.. then to find y...

for 2) you have y=2x so do the same..
