Is it too late too late for me to be a professional soccer player?

My dream is to become a professional soccer player. I'm 16 and I've been playing for 5 years but I have never been in a soccer club. I can do some tricks, for example the elastico and the crossover, I can do some decent shots and I can sprint really fast.

It's not too late, but the odds of becoming a professional in any sport are pretty low. Getting a late start certainly decreases those chances.

Not playing on a club team does not mean you can't be professional. It's more a matter of your skill level. Unfortunately, it's impossible to determine what your chances are based on a few short sentences.

The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) is a ******* joke. If you really want to bring your game up I would openly suggest going to one of the many development schools across ontario and paying to train there with some great coaches. If that fails then you could always go down to europe for a bit and try out for a youth squad there, just to gauge how your skill level compares to others your age. I know this costs money but the CSA sucks so bad they would never pay for you. Hell they wont even pay to send their womens national team to the world cup.

Its not too late

However most of the 16 year olds who will make it are already known to professional clubs and have been getting training from them for years, if you haven't even joined a club then you have a lot of catch up to do , in truth even if you are a major talent (as in one of the most talented 16 year olds in the world) you are behind thousands of kids your age and most of them will fail to make the grade.

Best thing you should do is join a good local club and learn to play the game as part of a team., if your good enough they will push you up the grades and from there you might get scouted.

In truth if you can do a few tricks have a decent shot and can sprint.....thats not going to be enough and you just discribed millions of players who will only ever play for the love of the game

No show mate. Find yourself a club and train hard you may do okay in your local league.
