Who knows? You really can't compare. They are both legendary players, and both some of the greatest players of all time. But you can't compare the two because they played in completely different eras. Pitchers pitched MUCH differently, the ballparks were different, and the game was really in a different era, so it's impossible to know for sure.

I'd say Babe Ruth is better, simply because he's, well, Babe Ruth. He's known as the greatest player of all time. He pitched, AND hit 714 HR. If he never pitched and was a hitter his whole career, or had a longer career, then he would have had 800+ HR. I don't know how he would have done in modern day, but thats pretty impressive, even if the era he played in was easier.

A-Rod is one of the greatest players of all time. But I don't think any player compares to Babe Ruth.

Babe Ruth, and it's not even close. And when you look at Ruth's stats, remember that he should have 75 extra home runs, but there was a rule before 1930 that stated that the foul lines were infinitely long and a fly ball over the fence had to land in fair territory, as determined by the infinitely long foul lines. In other words, a fly ball that went over the fence in fair territory but hooked around the foul pole was ruled a foul ball.

' Henry T '...Unless you were there, how do you know what kinds of skills the players that Ruth played with possessed? At least he didn't have to inject himself with some evil drug in order to hit a baseball 600 feet. And, in addition to that, I would wager that there were probably numerous days on which all that alcohol that Ruth consumed actually hindered his performance. Look, it was a different era with players that none of us ever saw play. It's not even possible to compare, let alone contemplate. Regardless of who was better, I'm sure that Ruth will always be a bigger name than A - Rod, and there must be a reason for that...
