The full equation for the reaction is:3C2H5CH(OH)CH3 + K2Cr2O7 + 4H2SO4 → 3C2H5COCH3 + K2SO4 + Cr2(SO4)3 + 7H2O
The ionic equation is:
3C2H5CH(OH)CH3 + Cr2O7^2- + 8H^+ → 3C2H5COCH3 + 2Cr^3+ + 7H2O
From either of the above equations, mole ratio
butan-2-ol : Cr2O7^2- = 3 : 1
