第一家麥當勞於1940年在美國加州開業;經過超過半個世紀的變遷,現在已成為世界屈指可數的連鎖快餐企業;但正因為此種快餐的經營方式,再加上近年來人們對健康的關注、了解和需求增加,快餐食物質量和其營養價值等問題也引起了許多爭議,因此有部份快餐行號就致力研究改良菜式、配料和烹調方法,務求使快餐食物和飲料更健康更多樣化。
