a car with a mass of 2500kg is driven down the street at 52km/h. the driver notice that there is a school zone ahead and hit the brakes to slow down to 24km/h. if the car were slowed down over a distance 145m, dtermine the average force applied by the brakes.

v^2-u^2=2as(24*1000/3600)^2-(52*1000/3600)^2=2a(145)
a=-0.566ms^-2
F=ma
F=2500(-0.566)
F=-1415N
Hence the braking force = 1415N
