= 7g - 2 + 4g + 9
= 11g + 7

Answer: 11g + 7

7g - 2 + 4g + 9
= 7g + 4g - 2 + 9
= 11g + 7

7g + 4g + 9 - 2

11 g + 7

What do you get when you add 7 apples (7g) to 4 apples (4g)?

What do you get when you take 9 and subtract 2?

Well, combining like terms, you have obviously settled on

7g + 4g = 11g

So, now focus on

(- 2) + (9) = ?

If you are having trouble with signed numbers that are this simple, then you must go to your teacher !

whenever there's no sign in front of the number, just take it as a plus. read it as:

+7g-2+4g+9
every number or variable will get put with the sign before it
so just write out what the numbers are once you group them

+7g+4g + -2+9

there's always a plus in the middle
cos it's these two things added together
HOWEVER
say it was -2-9
that would make it 11g-11
because although the + sign is put in between +7g+4g and -2-9, -2-9 is equal to -11. the minus before -11 makes it just a minus.

so
+7g+4g = 7g+4g = 11g

+

-2+9 = 7

therefore it is 11g + 7, because there is no negative sign before the 7 :)

i hope you understood that :P it's hard to teach over the internet and i've never done it before. that's just the way it works in my head and i get A's
