What do you think about using this name for a girl?

Leighton.

I like it because it is an English name meaning "Leek Settlement", and my family's from a place in England called Leek.

I'd probably never use it, since there are so many other (more feminine) names that I like more, but it's a possibility.

Do you like it?
Would it be innappropriate to use it for a girl?
Middle names to go with it?

I think it's fine for a girl....I kind of like it actually. I'd pair it with....
Leighton Violet
Leighton Emma
Leighton Grace
Leighton Olivia
or something else really girly to balance it out. :)
I think in your situation it would be really nice because of the meaning. I would never use it, but I might consider it if I had the same association with the name.

Sounds too masculine, but if I were you I wouldn't give up on that name (because of the story behind). I would use it for middle name instead ;)

Jessica Leighton
Donna Leighton
Anything goes!

I love the name Leighton for a girl (not a fan of it for a boy). I personally like the combination Leighton Renee.

It's very masculine - I know a number of boys named Leighton or Layton. Personally I think if you're intent on using it it would be better as a middle name: you have more room with middle names because they aren't usually part of a first impression and in the UK at least it's quite traditionally established that a middle name can be the mother's maiden name or a familial name.

I think if you did use it as a first name, a delicate and feminine middle name would be needed to counterbalance it - maybe a flower name like Rose, Dahlia or Iris, something pretty and peppy such as Ava, Zoe, Mia, Gia, Leah, or something classic like Victoria, Marianne, Felicity or Beatrice.

'Leighton' seems to be more of a surname than a given name. Anyway, I think, like Courtney, it can be used both for boys and for girls. So I suggest you go ahead with it.

Yeah I kinda like it, like Leighton Meester? Maybe pair it with something feminine so it doesn't sound to masculine, but yeah it definitely could be used as a girls name.

Leighton Isabella
Leighton Marie
Leighton Maria
Leighton Felicity

I do like it :)

I don't think it'd be inappropriate to use for a girl...It's spelled in kind of a feminine way I think. I think it would look off on a boy since Leigh is the feminine form of Lee.

Leighton Marie
Leighton Isobel
Leighton Grace
Leighton River
Leighton Christine
Leighton Ophelie

Since it has some sort of a meaning to you, I definitely would not throw it out. It's a cute name and I don't care what anyone says, I think it looks much better on a girl than a boy.

My sim's husband is named Leighton, hm... lol Honestly, that was the first time I ever even heard of the name, so I figured the game had gotten it right and it was a guy's name. I liked it for a guy. Now, idk about it for a girl, could be nice.

Hey,
Im not a fan of it as a girls name, it's sounds more male.
Maybe try something like Leah there is plenty of ways to spell it.
Lia, Leah but if you like the way Leighton is spelt work with that and so maybe Leigha.
good luck <3 x

YES!!!! I love it for a girl, unisexed names are amazing, but because of that it does need a girly middle name such as;
Leighton Grace
Leighton Emily
Leighton Amelia
Leighton Alexandra
Leighton Jessie
Leighton Kate

Best of luck, its a great name and you should consider it more!
x
