I'd prefer to get a tongue piercing, because I already have my navel pierced and have no plans for an inverse or side navel piercing.

I have my belly button pierced Its nice and Its cute during swim suit season ect. I want my tongue pierced as well I'm just scared to find a good place to get it done because I have heard things about people trying to do it by themselves and end up doing it wrong which could even kill you. I like them both and they look good on almost anyone :)

Belly button. My friend doesn't talk the same after getting her tongue pierced. It gets infected really easily when you "play" with the stud in your mouth, there are also way more bacteria in your mouth than in your belly button.

Just to clear this up, tongue rings are not painful at all, and they do not make kissing akward whatsoever.
Piercings, like the tongue or belly button... will always be in style for certain age groups. It's your own personal choice what you think about it, and if you think it's in style or not.
People say belly rings look bad on larger people, well - tongues do too. Who wants to see a tongue ring on a fat chick?

Belly button piercing. Tongue seems like it would make kissing painful, and belly button piercings can be pretty hot.
