Are Contacts Hard To Put In and Get Out?

2009-10-25 2:01 pm
I am about to get a current eye exam-2 year checkup- and I am considering getting contacts b/c I am tired of glasses --they hurt my nose and smudge alot and I dont like the way I look in glasses-- so is it hard to put contacts in and get them out and get used to them? are they uncomfortable? Do they cause eye infections? Any tips and info would be helpful as I will be going next week for my exam. THANKS!

I wore glasses since i was very small and i got contact lens 5 years ago.
At first it was quite difficult to put the lens on because it is a normal reaction that you will think that it is going to hurt.
I took around an hour to actually put on my lens.

They all told me that taking out the lenses will be easier but it was not easier for me at first.
After a few times of practicing, you will be able to put and remove your lenses in just a few seconds.

I think the easy way to put your lens is to look up, gently put the lens on your eye-white and then blink gently and slowly. it will go into place.

it will always feel uncomfortable at first, like there is something there on your eyeball.. but i got used to it on the second day.

Important points to remember when you have contact lens on,
-Do not sleep with your lens on, somehow your lens will dry out and it will hurt your eye. (i heard other peoeple say that the lens will break in your eyes and you will go blind, don't know if it's true but i'm very careful of this)

-Must maintain personal hygiene, if not your eyes will get infection
-If you are using monthly contact lens, you must remember to change them on time.

My eyes always feels dry with contact lens on, so a good eyedrop that can be used for contact lens is very important.
It is important to use eyedrops that is for contact lens because normal eyedrops can make your monthly contactlens become a 2week contact lens. And soon, it won't be working anymore.

I hope it helps! good luck (:

The first time i had to take mine out it took me 2 hours, i was convinced they where stuck to my eyeballs. That was 14 years ago, now i can take them out as easy as anything.

The first few weeks they will feel weird to take out and put in. But after that you will be able to do it easy. Wash your hands everytime you take them out thats the most important thing! I have had a few eye infections in the past. If you do get one do not wear your lenses until yor eyes are completley better.

I now have extended wear lenses i can leave them in for one month, i can sleep in them. I just take them out once a week to give my eyes a rest.

They take time to learn and get use to putting them on. Colored contacts are just the same as clear they are not any easier or difficult to put on. Once you get the hang of it you'll be okay. It may take yo a while so don't give up. Im just comfortable with sticking my finger in my eye so it was easy for me. Good luck.

It's not a lie - Practice makes perfect.

You'll go from getting up 2 hours early to put them on, to popping them on without even looking at the mirror in a few weeks.

Hygiene is a key when it comes to contact lenses.

All the responses are correct. Your dr will teach you how to put them in and take them out. Be sure to follow the manufactures recommendations for wear time and cleaning, and they will be comfortable and infection free. When you are at your doctor, be sure to talk to them about what kind you want (colored, able to sleep in)

Here are a few tips that will help you.

1. Always wash your hands before touching the lenses. Keep your lenses and case clean as well.

2. Follow the instructions to the letter.

3. Overcome the fear of touching your eyes by washing your hands then repeatedly touch the whites of your eyes until you can do it without hesitation.

4. Blink at least every 5 seconds.

5. It's best not to sleep with the lenses on.

6. Remove the lenses if your eyes don't feel good, see good, or look good.

Wow, I just had a flashback. When you first get your contacts, it will take you a while to get use to putting them in your eye, and taking them out. Contacts are as comfortable as you want them to be. If you take care of your lenses, let them soak properly, and drip some solution in them every now and them, then you should be fine. Contacts can cause eye infections, only if you don't use them properly. Therefore, it's best if you wash your hands before and after putting your lenses in, not using your contacts over the recommended time allowance, and you need to keep your lenses in an uncontaminated place.

I have two contact lens tips for you.

1. Before putting your lenses on your eye, drip 1 or 2 drops of solution onto your lens, so that your eyes won't be dry.

2. If you happen to run out of solution, water is fine to soak your lens in. However, when you do get some more solution, it is very important that you soak your lenses in solution for 6 to 7 hours and then put them in. If you do not let your lenses soak in the solution for 6 to 7 hours, the lenses will be very dry and feel extremely uncomfortable on your eye.

Congratulations and God Bless!!

Actually at first if your afraid of touching your eye it might take you two days or so to get the hang of it. It really doesnt hurt at all, if you wash them with the disinfectant they give you they will be just fine. Put them in is fairly simple just aim for your puiple and they should act like a suckshun cup and pop on to your eye. Getting them out is also simple. You just simple move it down from your eye or you could pinch it out. You can touch your eye with them on all you want but remember to wash your hands every time.

I do not use glasses, but my friends do. From what they say they have 0 problems with them. When u start using them, your eye will feel a bit uneasy of course, since its something new for the eyes. But as time passes, it will be like nothing.

What i suggest is that, you only use your contacts when needed. When you're at home, or something close, maybe hanging out at your friends house or whatever, use your glasses. But when you are going out, you use your eye contacts. Examples, going to some discos stuff, glasses are not really ideal. But, when doing daily stuff, stick to your glasses.
