x = - 232/24 + 132/24 + 2
x = - 100/24 + 2
x = - 25/6 + 2
x = - 25/3 or - 8 1/3 or - 8.333.

first do the simple addition on both sides.

(6x+29)/3 = x+ (44 + 16)/8
(6x+29)/3 = x+60/8
(6x+29)/3 = (8x+60)/8
8(6x+29) = 3(8x+60)
48x + 232 = 24x + 180.
24x = -52
x = -52/24
x = -13/6

2x + 29/3 = x + 44/8 +2
2x - x = 44/8 +2 - 29/3
x = -(52/24)

2x + 29/3 = x + 44/8 +2
Simply collect x on left side and numbers on right side,
