the figure shows the graph of y=a(x+2)(x-4), where its highest pt is (k,3)and the x-intercept are -2 and 4.

a.) considering the symmetry of a parabola, find the value of k. hence the value of a.
b.)find the value of y when x=0.

a.) considering the symmetry of a parabola, the highest point is located at
k = (-2 + 4)/2 = 1
when x = 1, y = 3 => 3 = a(1 + 2)(1 - 4)
3 = -9a => a = -1/3
b.) when x=0, y = (-1/3)(2)(-4) = 8/3
