No. Then they would be the Yankees.

The Yankees have won 3 in a row (1998-2000), 4 in a row (1936-1939), and 5 in a row (1949-1953). Other than that, only the Athletics (1972-1974) has managed to win 3 in a row.

The Yankees and Phillies will have a good series in 2009. If they somehow manage to beat the 2009 series, then they can start going for 2010, but don't count your chickens before they hatch. The Yanks are still thinking about only the game tonight. That's why they win, they think only about the game at hand. I'm sure the Phillies are doing the same, perhaps you should follow their lead.

As for back-to-back wins, only 7 teams have done that. The first 5 are: Cubs (1907-1908), Red Sox (1915-1916), New York Giants (1921-1922), Cincinnati Reds (1975-1976), Blue Jays (1992-1993)

You should be proud of your city, though, as the Philadelphia Athletics won back-to-back series twice (1910-1911, 1929-1930). And that's the same team that went on to Oakland and won 3 more times in the 1970s.

Of course, in addition to the 3, 4, and 5 series win streaks above, the Yankees also won back-to-back 3 times (1927-1928, 1961-1962, 1977-1978). Plus 8 world series titles that weren't part of a streak for a total of 26... and counting.

im not a yankee fan first off, but i will say this: if the yankees win the ALCS, then the phillies will have a tougher match then they would against the angels

I remember watching the game on Saturday Night which was excellent and entertaining. I think the yankees will win tonight and next week.I think yankees will win. It's possible they wont but I get that sense that they are going to win.

Edit

Ok based on the current game. I say LAA will win this game but you never know.

B) No, I think that assuming the play the Yankees, they will have their work cut out for them. I think anyone would rather have the Yankees lineup and CC in game one than the Phillies lineup and Lee in Game 1 (although that one should be a good game). Game two could be either a pitchers duel or a slugfest with Burnett vs. Hamels.
Game three the Yankees have the advantage with Pettitte vs. Pedro (who the Yankees kill). So yeah, I think the Phillies definitely are in trouble. And it's a little forward to be thinking about 2010 now.

Last year the phillies went against a power house Rays team led by rookie Evan Longoria.....sound familiar phillies fans? Yea the Rays had no business being there. Now they will face a complete team. I'm a Dodger fan, I hope the Yankees sweep the series in 4. I want to see the Yankees celebrate their world series win in Philly.

B: no, they will lose to the Yankees in the WS & won't be there in 2010 & why worry about 2010 when they haven't even played the first game of the 2009 WS?
