He is
best known for his eponymous laws of planetary motion, codified by later
astronomers based on his works Astronomia nova, Harmonices Mundi,
and Epitome of Copernican Astrononomy. They also provided one of the
foundations for Isaac Newton's theory of universal gravitation.



他在1609年發表了關於行星運動的兩條定律，1618年發現了第三條定律，就是後來被稱爲“開普勒定律”的行星三大定律，定律說明了行星圍繞太陽轉的理論。開普勒接受了並發展了哥白尼的天體貴賤觀，認爲太陽是宇宙的統治者，行星各依其軌道環繞太陽而行。行星運動三定律的發現爲經典天文學奠定了基石，促成了數十年後萬有引力定律的發現。
