Hi guys. Me being a Yankee fan, I've been hearing a lot of talk about how Jeters getting older. Some people say he's not as fast as he used to be and that he's only gonna be playing for a few more years.
I was just kind of wondering how much longer you guys think he will be playing. I've been hearing talk about how he will only play for a few more years. I just wanna know some of your thoughts. Jeter is a huge part of the Yankees and I will be terribly sad when he leaves.

*Please don't come here to bash the Yankees. If you're not a fan, please be respectful.*

I'm not a Yankees fan, but it's tough to knock a guy coming off one of the best seasons of his career at 35 years old.

I'm guessing Jeter wants to get 3,000 hits, which he'll likely do in 2011. After that, I think it will just be a question of how much he enjoys playing the game and how well the Yankees are doing. He seems to love the sport, so I could see him playing to 40. There's always a possibility of going even later than that, but I could see a big decline happening a few years from now.

I get tired of the constant adulation for the guy, but I've got nothing bad to say about him - great player, incredible HOF career, and seems like a decent guy on top of all that.

I am a Cleveland Indians fan, but I respect Jeter and his love for the game. His is a great player and seem like a good guy outside of baseball. I would say he has several more years in him. We'll see how he does physically and how the Yankees are doing.

FOREVER!!! Haha I wish! I remember him saying in an interview once that he wants to play until he's 42 or so. So if this is true and he's not seriously injured, then about 7 more years!

At least 4-5 years. I think it depends on his performance as each year passes by. He still can play at a high level.

Jeter is loved so much by that organization and the fans of New York he can stay as long as he likes.

He's 35 now and I think he will be there at least until he's 38 or 39.
The guy takes such good care of himself.

As for that getting older part, he stole 30 bases this year and increased his range at SS. He's in great shape and will play at least another 6 years but could play more depending on how much he wants to.

I do think he will move to another position in a year or two. I don't know where. Can't go to 3rd or first, so probably left field.

So, 6 years, and we'll assume 175 hits per year (way UNDER his career average) for another 1000 hits or so. That would bring him to 3,700 to 3,800 for his career which puts him in the top 5 of all time and maybe 3rd!!!

How can people say he is overated?!?!

As long as Jeter is healthy & contributing he will stay around as long as he can, I belive he would like to chalenge Pete Rose, if he makes it long or far is yet to be seen, & I for one dont think he can, but that is what he usually needs to hear in order to perform.....just tell the man he cant do something & then watch!
