3x + y = - 1, so y = - 1 - 3x. Substitute into the other equation will be9x + 2(- 1 - 3x) = 1
9x - 2 - 6x = 1
3x = 3
x = 1.
so y = - 1 - 3(1) = - 1 - 3 = - 4.
