Who else thinks the NFL overtime rule stinks?

I know this is old but who else thinks the "first score wins" in overtime is wrong for football? It's too easy to just kick a FG and win. I think each team having one possession was better. Yeah I know the first score wins in hockey, but that's different. It's more like the losing baseball team not having "last bats".

Sam,I see your point, that's worth considering (except the "source" part). No, my team didn't lose, I don't really follow any team, I watch for the entertainment.

I was hoping the Pats would win today...but Broncos got first possession.

I think that there should be a 'dance-off' on the 50 yard line. Each player would do their best TD and Sack dances/taunts and the best team overall should take the win!

Okay it would be lame but very entertaining!

Maybe. But I also think if your defense can't make a stop maybe you don't deserve to win the game.

The game has to end at some point. A few years ago I sat and watched a college game in which Kentucky went through 7 OT's.

Why...Cause your team lost?

Each team has a 50-50 shot at the coin toss. a 50-50 shot on the field ( the offense can fumble, or be intercepted or have a punt returned for a TD) so at the pro level, sudden death is the best way to go. I want teams to win, not play for ties at the end. If the NFL used your logic, the Patriots would have NO Superbowl wins, as they needed a couple of the OT wins to get into the playoffs.
參考: Hey, b1tch. Back in the day when real men played. the team with the most first downs would get the win.

The ball should automatically be placed at the twenty. No kickoffs in OT.

Maybe.
