Is it worth going to the playoffs to be swept in 3 games?

First the Cardinals, and now the Red Sox both done in 3 games. So as a player or as a fan, is it worth all the excitement to be knocked out so quickly, or would you rather not go to the playoffs and spare the losses?

The goal at the end of the 162 game schedule is to make the playoffs. 22 teams don't get to do that. While it is very disappointing to be eliminated in the first round (i'm a yankee fan, so i know how it feels), it is still better than not getting there at all.

The playoffs are worth it, but it does suck being swept. A couple of years ago when the Dodgers got swept, or lost the series 3-1, it has a bitter sweet feeling. Its cool we made it to the playoffs, but it kinda sucks getting out so quick. Well I cant say that for the past two years for my Dodgers, we have swept the Cubs last year and this year, the Cards. I can say this much, being the team that sweeps another team......feels great ;)

...especially when you are the underdog.

going to the playoffs is worth it because you're being rewarded for all the work you put into this season. 162 games is a workload and only 8 teams make it so they should feel privileged. I would rather see my team make the playoffs and get swept cuz it's october baseball and i love watching that

My team (Jays) finished fourth in their division, again.

I would much rather have seen them sneak into the playoffs and get crushed by a team like the Yankees, because it means they're at least among the elite. It sure beats your team's season being over in July.

Yes. Getting to the playoffs shows that you can compete with the best teams in the MLB. Getting eliminated is tough but atleast you got the chance to compete.

I would rather be swept in the first round than lose the World Series. That really hurts more in my opinion.

Coming from a Mets fan, I would rather be swept in 3 games than miss the post-season. The Mets have missed 3 post seasons in a row, we were in the hunt in 07' and 08' and 09' was a disaster. It is always more interesting to be in the hunt anyway.

Are you serious? Yes. The O's haven't finished over .500 in 12 years. I'd take losing a 1 game playoff like Detroit. Hell, I'd take 82-80.

Yes, the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals were recently swept out of the playoffs.
