Let the tenth digit be x and the unit digit be y.So value of the number = 10x + y
so 10x + y = 3(x + y)
10x + y = 3x + 3y
7x = 2y............................(1)
New value of number after adding 9 to it will be 10x + y + 9
so 10x + y + 9 = 4(x + y)
10x + y + 9 = 4x + 4y
6x + 9 = 3y
2x + 3 = y...................(2)
Sub (2) into (1) we get
2x + 3 = 7x/2
4x + 6 = 7x
6 = 3x
x = 2
sub into (1) we get y = 7
so the number is 27.
