Nichrome wire are unreactive. They do not react with concentrated hydrochloric acid, do not react with oxygen when heated, and do not undergo displacement reaction with the compound to be tested in flame test.

Other metal can be chosen: Platinum wire

鐵線是絕對不可以用的!
因為burning iron會出iron(ii) iron(iii) oxide,會出左一層black oxide layer, 如果隻metal用air有reaction會影響實驗結果
而nichrome (nickel + chrominium)係十分unreactive,strong heating唔會有reaction.
Platium也可以使用,可是成本比nichrome高很多.
