Can I use a Large Dog's dosage of Frontline on a Medium sized dog?

This evening I found a tick on his ear and have removed it with tweezers. I'm afraid he may have more and do not want to risk him getting sick from them. I have Frontline from my Great Pyrenees/Husky mix whom I no longer own but can not find the package I bought for my corgi. Would using half the dosage work or should I wait to get more for his size in the morning?

You CAN use it. I do it all the time.

My pyrs are about 100# and my Aussie cross is about 55#. I use only -HALF- the dose and save the rest for next month. This saves me money, and gives the dog the correct amount of Frontline Plus for his size.

The amount of Frontline in the 4 size dosages... the large breed is 2x the amount in the dosage for a dog half that size... so you can take a large breed dog dosage into a syringe and give half for a 50# range dog, and you can use it for smaller dogs so long as you cut the dosage back to the right amount. Of course, you remove the needle from the syringe before you squirt the reduced amount of it onto the smaller dog. AND... you use the frontline tube to hold the remaining medicine for next month.

I work at a shelter, and we often use half doses of the 20+ kg for our 10-20kg dogs since we always run out of the ones for 10-20kgs first, and we're left with the 20+ kgs. We've never had a problem.

I think they are considered to be a medium sized breed; they are really right between medium and large. I have owned boxers who were 55-60 lbs and a boxer who was 85 lbs, all of them healthy weights. So an individual dog could actually be of medium size or large depending on its genetics and enviroment as a pup. My feeling is that a lot of people see a boxer as a large breed 'cause they have a lot of presence!!

It's really not okay due to the poison in the frontline plus flea&tick liquid. But, usually if the dog has a thick coat, the large dog dosage would be okay! But you should ALWAYS call and check with a vet before you do something! You should check for more ticks as well. Maybe a shave is in need to make sure they are all gone. Ticks carry so many diseases and can even poison an animals/humans blood leaving them paralyzed with the venom/disease they are carrying that could also lead to a heart attack or horrible allergic reaction!

It would probably be okay, but I would wait just to be on the safe side.

You can use it, but I wouldnt just simply put half on your dog, you may over dose that way!

You need to get a syringe and dose it out for your dog's size..
