How to get a girl to talk if she is shy and quiet ONLINE AND IN PERSON?

Many people who are shy tend to come off the wrong way, so I must first applaud you for giving this girl the chance ... and taking the time she needs to be able to trust and get comfortable enough with you to open up.

What I would try is beginning conversations with things that are easiest for her to talk about - keep the conversation directed toward her, without being too overwhelming (ask her how her day went, what she's doing over the weekend, and generally easy questions that allow her to answer). Find out what things she's interested in and what you have in common (whether it's a hobby, activity, or a new book or movie).

Reassure her regularly (but again, not too aggressively) that you really like her and want to get to know her better. I think the most important thing with someone who is shy is to give them time before giving up - she could end up to be quite the opposite of shy once she is comfortable with you.

First I think it's better to talk with her about things that she is interested in. Then after a month you can enjoy a nice friendship.

Ask open ended questions. It might help to share more about yourself to make her comfortable in sharing more about herself. It could be that she's just being cautious. Good luck!

Little steps...Just be yourself and have lots of chats like you did last night..I can be a bit on the shy side sometimes but after a while I eventually get to know the person more and let my true colours show:) Lots of people are like it. When you talk online ask her questions and tell her lots of things about yourself, she'll gradually come out of her shell over time, you just need to keep at it:)

Find something she has in common with you... Ex. Favorite sports team, movie... for me and my bf its Sushi and Kayaking... lol... im seriouse... haha!... just try it! Good luck!

Talk about things that you both can relate to. :) It's a good way to start a conversation and make it last longer.

Try and figure out what things she likes and enjoys. Make sure conversations revolve around what you know she is comfortable with.

Kind of open up to her and make her feel comfortable. She will do the same in return.

Well you just have to let her get to know you and get used to you. After that she will be more open and able to talk about anything. Let her know that you are interested in her and want to make her comfortable and able to talk to you at any time.

ask her questions about HER, her family like does she have a brother? etc etc
