I am not really sure about its safety. Because if you're going to talk about its openness to infections, I think it's not mutually exclusive to butter--many people use saliva and THAT has MORE chances of giving infections.

Some homosexuals use Olive Oil for this. Butter is almost the same banana with Olive Oil so I guess it will be fine.

HOWEVER, I don't think it's a good idea because butter is for bread. There are specific things to use for this such as a sexual lubricant. They are not expensive at all--some are in sachets and are more affordable. Lubricants are also easier to use as compared to butter because lubricants will just be applied to your prives. Butter needs to be melted--and I can guess that it is messy! Also, it ruins the sheets, doesn't it? :)

Our grand mothers used butter on a fire burn. I know it's outdated and do more harm than good. Not for the infections butter might brings but for the ineffectiveness of the method. In some parts of my country, villagers used a mix of butter and eggs to splash on a cut. It is rumored to rejuvenate faster the skin. True or false, never tried it. We also find butter so tasty on a toast and the breakfast would never be completed without it.
