a lorry of 1000kg and car of 500kg are traveling in opposite direction in the same speed of 4m/s.after collision they stick toghther and continue to travel.what are the velocity and direction??

Let the initial direction of the lorry be positive.As there is no net force acting on the system,
By the law of conservation of momentum,
Initial momentum = Final momentum
Mu + mv = (M + m)w
(1000)(4) + (500)(-4) = (1000 + 500)w
Final velocity, w = 1.33 m/s in the direction same as the initial direction of the lorry.
