Not all macau resident need to conscript to Military service in portugal, only macau resident with Portual nationality needed to serve the Portugese Military.

It is civil duty for each portugese to serve their military force when situation arise. And portugal did have a selective service system, each year, 40,000 portugese citizens are draft into Portugese Military Service and complete a 2 years tour.

However, if a portugese living aboard, he (Female Citizens are not drafted) can apply to delay or exclude from service. So portugese living in macau can apply for exclusion of military service if they decided to take up portugese citizenship. It is important to apply for exclusion if they are planning on living in portugal, otherwise they may be drafted as well, or they will be treated as deserter.
