I may be way out of line here but i was wondering

how i would find f( - 5 ), if your equation were correct.
.....................................................................................................

Let's see now.

So we have f ( x ) = 2x + 6.f( -5 ).

Putting x = -5 on both sides of this equation,
we get

f( -5 ) = 2( -5 ) + 6.f( -5 )

0 = - 10 + 5.f( -5 )

10 = 5. f( -5 )

f( -5 ) = 2. ..................Interesting, isn't it ?

Hope This Helps You somewhere else !

f(x) = 2x + 6
In order to find the value of f(-5), just substitute -5 in place of x
f(-5) = 2*-5 + 6
= - 10 + 6
= - 4

f(x)=2x+6f(-5)
take x=-5 then
f(-5)=2(-5)+6f(-5)=>
5f(-5)=10=>
f(-5)=2
So, f(x)=2x+12

You should tell us for what you want to solve.

Presentation could be clearer.

Will assume that f (- 5 ) is required.

f ( - 5 ) = - 10 + 6

f ( - 5 ) = - 4

f(6) based on the table

y | f(y)
3 | 5
4 | 6
5 | 4
6 | 3

-4

U just plug it in

2(-5)+6 = -4

Substitute -5 to x.

f(-5) = 2(-5) + 6

Simplify.

f(-5) = -4

f(x) = 2x + 6
f(-5) = 2(-5) + 6
f(-5) = -10 + 6
f(-5) = -4

If that means solve f(x) for f(-5) then do this:

f(x) = 2x + 6
f(-5) = 2(-5) + 6
f(-5) = -10 + 6
f(-5) = -4

when it says f(whatever...) you plug in whatever... for every x. so in this case, you plug in the -5 for every x.

Just substitute (-5) instead of x.
Therefore the answer is
2(-5)+6 =>
-10+6= -4
