First step in this kind of equation is to rewrite xs on one side and the rest on the other side. so:

2x+6x = 25 - 9 (remember that when you move one number from one side to the other you have to change sign!!)

than you add:

8x = 16

finally you divide 16 by the number next to the x, so that you have

x = 16/8 -- hence x = 2

You can do all these equations this way.

2x + 6x+ 9 = 25....subtract 9 from each side and add the x terms
8x = 16
x = 2

Combine the variables.

8x + 9 = 25

Get the variable to be alone (subtract 9 from 25)

8x = 16

Now divide

16/8= 2
X = 2

hope this helps

2x + 6x + 9 = 25. Add the x terms together to get:

8x + 9 = 25. Subtract 9 from both sides of the equation.

8x = 25 - 9 = 16. Divide both sides by 8.

x = 2. Answer
