Note that the unit for energy in this equation is Joules.

What is the question?Do you wish to know Es from a quake with Ms=7.1?
1.5*7.1 = 10.65 and add 4.8 = 15.45. log10Es = 15.45 so Es=10^15.45 = 2.8 x 10^15 J.
