"do the time / do time" 係美式英文俚語, 意思係踎監服刑咁解.
eg. he did some time in pen state penitentiary before he moved back to his hometown new york..
他在回到家鄉紐約前曾在賓夕凡尼亞州立監獄服刑
如果在 do 後加個 hard 字 - do hard time - 就即係長期監禁.
eg. "Miami Hacker Will Do Hard Time - Albert Gonzalez is looking at 15 to 25 years behind bars under the plea agreement filed in Boston today."
