"Manually manage music" option is not available on iTunes?
I have an iPod nano, generation unknown. I downloaded the newest version of iTunes. When I attach the iPod, click on devices, the summary tab does not show the "Manually manage music" option, instead, there is only a Version section that gives me the only two options of "Check for Update" and "Restore:.
I want to add new songs to my iPod without erasing the ones I already have in it. (syncing with another library without erasing the songs)
What should I do in this case?

I think you have to enable disk use first before you can manually manage music, or that might be something else. You should just be able to drag music over to it anyway.
That option makes you MUST manage ALL of your music and videos BY YOUR SELF. (Note: If you don't activate it, default-ly iTunes will do that for you) Example; If you just add 20 new songs to your iTunes library or / and at the same time remove 10 old songs from there. Next time you connect your iPod to your PC; 1. If you don't activate "Manually Manage Music and Videos" iTunes will automatically copy that 20 new songs to your iPod or / and removes that 10 old songs from your iPod. 2. If you activate "Manually Manage Music and Videos" iTunes will not do anything, so you MUST DRAG AND DROP that 20 new songs from your iTunes library section to your iPod section or / and you MUST DELETE that 10 old songs from your iPod section BY YOUR SELF. So, the second condition is SO FRUSTATING, right?! So i think, you shouldn't activate that option. NOTE: *You can activate or de-activate that option whenever you want. *If, in another time you mess up your iPod, don't worry, you just should "RESTORE" (means make your iPod's software just like new) your iPod. (You can restore it by choose "restore" button from the iTunes when you connect that iPod to your PC.
The option will be there on your computer. For now, take the iPod and iTunes out of the equation. Copy the song files from the computer to a flash drive, external hard drive or whatever. Next, copy them to your computer's hard drive then drag and drop them into the iTunes library. Now connect your device, choose "Manually Manage," and drag and drop the songs to it.
it's gotta be there. look more carefully.... it's hard to find. everytime i have the problem i somehow can't find it
