香港護士於澳紐西蘭申請註冊的問題

Hello I'm a HK trained RN who wish to work in OZ (esp NSW). The only requirement I can't meet is the language test: either 7 in all subtests in IELTS, or B in all parts in OET exam......
And my stituation is, due to the eng exam result I obtained (all B in OET exam in 2 sittings), New Zealand is the only place where I can apply for registration. Knowing that there's a Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition between the 2 countries, may I know if it's ok to convert my NZ RN license into OZ one once I get it?

Is it ok for my case? Thanks in advance!
更新1:

Thx for answers from u all. Maybe it's my fault to put the question under the "immigration" group....indeed my intention for RN registration @NSW is just for.....gaining some overseas clinical experience by the working holiday visa.....

更新2:

Thank you so much j_hungary002, u are really expert for such questions! And I guess the policy change always, just like the English language criteria which is now a must for all those who would like to register in OZ....

更新3:

Thanks gt9763 as well, & I guess I'll no more think about NZ now.....one more question to ask: working in mental or general hospital, which one is easier for the new comer? Coz I've been away from general "skills" for ages after gaining the "psychiatric" qualification...

Under Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition, it's ok for u to gain Australian RN license (in any state) if u hold a NZ RN license. u can visit the website of the nursing board concerned. However, u need to certify true copies of all documents and witness signature of the form submitted to the board by an Australian J.P. I think u can do that from a consul at the Consulate General of Australia in HK. u can write to the nursing board concerned to ask. Are u going to migrate to Australia? If so, u can ask the procedure with your migration agent. u can feel free to email me if needed.

Under NZ RN reg. policy, u need to complete a few months RN competency program in NZ onshore before u can get a full RN license.

There is no need to deal with ANMC if u are NOT going to migration to Australia. ONLY state nursing council will issue RN license, NOT ANMC.

Is it ok for my case?
The answer is no.
For anyone who wish to work as a nurse in any state of Australia, you must be holding a registered nurse or division 1 certificate of particular state.
Nurses Qualification from other Australian State or all around the world (NZ included) will need to be assessed and recgonised by the ANMC first, then to the local nurse council. So in the end, you still need to pass the IELTS test or OET.
Trans Tasman agreement is only an agreement that allow Free movement between Australia and New Zealand, (like the EU free movement scheme)
If you cannot satisified the Australian conversion standard, you still cannot practices nurse in the end.
There is a way to get over this, try and study a University Degree in Nursing from ground up in Australia.

Want to say two things here.

1.) Thank you for gt9673 point out, i was wrong, the nurse council have changed their requirment in 2003, now they allow NZ qualification to transfer to NSW or most of the state for Nurse Requirment. Now NZ qualification equal to all other state of Qualification in AU

2.) However, you still need to pass IELTS just as i said. ANd it DOES Involve ANMC. Even if you have a NZ qualification.

You see, to invoke Trans Tasman Mutual Agreement, a person must be either Australian Permanent Resident, Australian Citizens or New Zealand Citizens to be included in the TTMA.

Now, unless you are willing to go too far to claim New Zealand Citizenship (No point getting Australian PR or Citizenship cause you need to get IELTS 7.0 to get there.) Otherwise you will not be included in Trans Tasman Agreement.

So, you will just be a HK resident holding a New Zealand Registered Nurse qualification, and if you want to work in Australia, you will need to apply for a Visa. For that you need your skill to be assessed by ANMC.

2009-09-25 18:16:31 補充:
Bear in mind, ANMC does not give you the Nursing Qualification but rather assess your skill to see if they are suitable to work in Australia, therefore this is a pure Visa issue, instead of qualification issue

2009-09-25 18:18:01 補充:
ANd for you to pass ANMC assessment and able to apply for a visa to work anywhere in Australia, you will need to pass IELTS tst and score all 7 in all the paper, or you become one of the english speaking countries's citizens to waive that.

2009-09-25 18:18:44 補充:
again, that have nothing to do with transferring your qualification but simply getting a visa to work in Australia.

So, in the end, you still need to pass IELTS to gain a working visa to Australia, or you need to go all the way to get NZ passport, that take 9 years...
